Meet the Tutors

Drop-In Peer Tutors are Â鶹´«Ã½ undergraduate students who have taken and done well in the courses they tutor. This requirement for drop-in tutors helps them be familiar with the course content, the professor, and the strategies that helped them succeed in the course.

Here are a few of the helpful tutors you will find during drop-in hours!

Hi! I'm Sari, a senior studying MMSS and data science, and I'm one of the senior tutors for math! This will be my third year as a tutor and my second as a senior tutor, so I'm excited to continue my work with ASLA. Outside of tutoring, I'm president of Â鶹´«Ã½ Hillel, a tour guide, and an avid supporter of Evanston coffee shops. Can't wait to see you at drop-in tutoring this fall!

Allie Holmgren

Allie Holmgren

Tutor Subject: EA Sequence

Hi! I’m Allie and I’m a junior in McCormick majoring in civil engineering with a minor in transportation and logistics. In the future, I’d really like to work in transportation engineering and maybe pursue a master's in industrial engineering. Outside of the classroom, I really like baking, going to the gym, and taking road trips. I’ve been tutoring for several years, and this is my second year tutoring with ASLA, so I’m very excited to return!

Annika Macy

Hi everyone, I am Annika, and I am a junior studying environmental science, and am considering a minor in Spanish. I am starting my first year with drop-in hours for organic chemistry. I enjoy spending my time working out, baking or painting, and I am part of swim and water polo club.

Julie Paska

Julie Paska (she/her)

Tutor Subject: Bio/Chemistry

Hi friends! My name is Julie Paska (she/her), and I'll be tutoring Bio/Chem for ASLA this year! I am a third year majoring in biology and minoring in psychology, and I hope to attend medical school one day. I decided to tutor chemistry because I love how interrelated topics in chemistry are with topics in other natural sciences, such as bio and psych. Besides my academic endeavors, you can spot me grabbing a poke bowl at Pono Ono, reading feminist prose (Atwood is my favorite!), or chilling with fellow members of NU's American Medical Women's Association. I am also a proud FGLI student, a daughter of two Polish immigrants, and a resident of the greater Chicagoland area. Can't wait to meet and work with all of y'all!

After graduation, I want to work in finance. Outside tutoring, I'm in Scholars of Finance (SoF), SASA, and ISA. I love hanging out with my friends on lakefill, playing chess, and trying new restaurants in Evanston. Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Marilene van den Berg

Marilene van den Berg(she/her)

Tutor Subject: Physics

Hi everyone! I'm Marilene van den Berg, a senior at Â鶹´«Ã½ studying biomedical engineering, and I'll be tutoring physics this year. Currently, I'm really interested in engineering research and applying it to the medical field to improve healthcare efficacy and accessibility in some shape or form. Outside the classroom, you'll find me on a tennis court, playing spikeball, cooking up a new recipe, or reading a good romance novel. I'm excited to meet you all!
