GLO Scholarships

The Global Learning Office is committed to increasing access to study abroad for all students and offer additional funding so that financial considerations do not restrict opportunities for international study.

There are also many opportunities to apply for outside scholarships and funding to help offset the cost of your study abroad program. However, deadlines come quickly. Plan ahead and check scholarship deadlines early in the application process.

Scholarship Application 

By completing the you will automatically be considered for all awards for which you are eligible.

Scholarship Eligibility

Available to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Evanston undergraduate students only. Typically, only one scholarship is awarded per student. 

Summer Programs

You are eligible for GLO Scholarships for Summer Programs if:

  1. You are applying to a Âé¶¹´«Ã½ or GESI Summer Program
  2. You are currently receiving financial aid at Âé¶¹´«Ã½

Academic Year Programs

You are eligible for GLO Scholarships for Academic Year Programs if (Fall, Fall-Winter Quarters, Winter-Spring Quarters, Spring Quarter, and Full Year Programs):

  1. You are applying to a Âé¶¹´«Ã½ Exchange Program 
  2. All students meeting criteria 1 are welcome to apply; however, students currently receiving financial aid and federal work-study are prioritized

Scholarship Donors

Bonnie and Mike Daniels GESI Scholars Fund

Thanks to the generous contributions of Bonnie and Mike Daniels, the Global Learning Office is pleased to be awarding up to 15 scholarships that will cover full tuition and other program costs. These full scholarships will play a significant role in allowing for the participation of a more economically diverse community of students in the Global Engagement Studies Institute (GESI). One of the Buffett Institute's continuing goals is to increase access to opportunities for all students to participate in GESI's unique model for engaged learning abroad.

Bonnie and Mike Daniels are both NU alumni (Bonnie - WCAS'69 / Mike - Comm'68 WCAS'69). Bonnie is an NU trustee and chair of the Weinberg College of Arts and Science Board of Visitors. Bonnie is the Director of Management Systems International, an international management consulting firm, where she works primarily on activities sponsored by the World Bank, United Nations and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Mike is a Consultant for Science Applications International Corporation, a US company that provides government services and information technology support.

Guidelines

Scholarship disbursement is contingent upon participation in the specific Global Learning Office (GLO) program to which you have applied. If awarded, you will see your award(s) credited to your Âé¶¹´«Ã½ invoice.

If you withdraw or are dismissed from your program, your award may be canceled. You are responsible for any balance due resulting from this loss of funding. Refer to the withdrawal and refund policies for Âé¶¹´«Ã½ programs for more information.

Scholarship recipients are expected to uphold exemplary standards of conduct, complete a creative project of your choosing during your study abroad program, and submit a reflective essay to GLO upon completion of your program. Recipients are also expected to participate in information sessions, orientation, and other events to assist GLO with program recruitment and to aid future program participants.

Note that your financial aid eligibility is inclusive of any GLO or external scholarships that may be awarded.
