Black History Month Global Week

BHM Global Week is designed to educate and support Black students looking to study abroad and engage in various global spaces. We have planned a series of programs aimed at answering common questions from Black students interested in study abroad, as well as strategies for navigating the unique obstacles that Black students encounter in their study abroad endeavors.

Traveling While Black Student Panel

Our panel of black travelers will discuss how identity and travel have intersected during their experiences exploring the world. The panel will discuss travel accessibility, cultural norms abroad, the increase of black travelers, obstacles and racism. Audience members will be invited to ask questions at the end. Please RSVP for this event.  Refreshments will be provided.

Study Abroad 101: Resources & Support for Black Students

  • Where: The Black House
  • When: TBD February 2025

 The Global Learning Office will be hosting a Study Abroad 101: Resources & Support for Black Students in February 2025 (date TBD) in the Black House. Explore the different types of NU study abroad programs. After this, GLO staff and returnee students will discuss Blackness abroad and provide tips on everything from haircare, to receiving stares, to how Blackness may be perceived in different countries. This is a safe place for students to ask whatever questions they have about various black study abroad experiences. Join us for pizza and travel discussion.
