Special Charges - The following rates apply to students in the full-time program taking course loads outside of the typical range:
- Excess course (more than 4 units)*: $7,216/unit
*With associate dean's approval, full-time Medill graduate students may register for a 5th unit of coursework. Students will be charged the excess course fee for the 5th unit.

For graduate and professional students, the health services fee will now be charged to students with regular access to on-campus health services. The student health fee, and other funding sources, provides Â鶹´«Ã½ students with equitable access to a variety of health services at the university including: Â鶹´«Ã½ Medicine Student Health Service in Evanston and Chicago, Counseling & Psychological Services, TimelyCare services, and other on-campus health and wellness initiatives.

All degree-seeking students are required to have health insurance coverage either through the Â鶹´«Ã½/Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan or the student’s own health insurance carrier.
