Alpha Chi Omega (Gamma Chapter) founded at NU.

1892 Tau Kappa Phi, a local fraternity, is founded at NU. (Archives)
1893

Delta Chi (Â鶹´«Ã½ Chapter) is founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1909 and re-colonize in 1996. (Bairds)

Delta Tau Delta (Beta Pi Chapter) is founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1981 and re-colonize in 1984. (Bairds)

1894

Sigma Alpha Epsilon (Illinois Psi Omega Chapter) founded at NU. The chapter was closed by its national organization in 1997.

Pi Beta Phi (Illinois Epsilon Chapter) founded at NU.

1895

Delta Delta Delta (Upsilon Chapter) founded at NU.

Beta Theta Pi is the first chapter to request a building site on campus to construct their chapter house. (Archives)

1898

Epsilon-Delta chapter of Chi Psi Fraternity is formed at the University of Chicago. 50 years later the chapter will transfer its affiliation to Â鶹´«Ã½ when UC de-recognizes its fraternities and sororities.

Sigma Nu (Gamma Beta Chapter) founded at NU.

1901 Chi Omega (Xi Chapter) founded at NU.
1902 The first student-written article appears on the subject of rush (recruitment). (Archives)
1904 "The Wranglers", a local fraternity, is founded at NU. (Archives)
1905 Four years before the North-American Interfraternity Conference is founded, NU Greek Letter Organizations formed their own Interfraternity Council on December 14th. (Archives)
1907 Kappa Delta (Lambda Chapter) founded at NU. It is named Lambda in honor of William Levere, a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, who was instrumental in bringing the chapter to NU.
1908 "The Eclectrics", a local fraternity, is founded at NU. The chapter is later merged into the local chapter of Sigma Chi. (Archives)

"The Scribblers", a local fraternity, is founded at NU. The chapter is later merged into the local chapter of Phi Gamma Delta. (Archives)

1909 Alpha Omicron Pi (Rho Chapter) founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1973. (Bairds)
1910 A masonic fraternity was organized on NU's campus and later became a chapter of Acacia.
1911 Acacia (Â鶹´«Ã½ Chapter) founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1990.

1919 Lambda Chi Alpha (Alpha Iota Chapter) founded at Â鶹´«Ã½. The chapter would close in 1996 and recolonize in 1998.

1921 Phi Mu Delta (Gamma Alpha Chapter) Fraternity founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1948.

Alpha Epsilon Phi (Omicron Chapter) Sorority founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1988.(Bairds)

Alpha Xi Delta (Alpha Theta Chapter) Sorority founded at NU. The chapter will close in 1972. (Bairds)

Delta Sigma Pi professional fraternity founded at NU and was then a part of the Interfraternity Council. (Archives)

1922 Alpha Phi Alpha (Alpha Mu Chapter) founded at NU on October 21st.
1923 Beginning in March of 1923, sorority alumni write letters to the University confirming that they have secured 25% of the estimated building costs for the new sorority quads. The $15,000 of the $60,000 was raised in cash and bonds. Building was slated to begin July 1, 1924. (Archives).

Tau Delta Phi (Xi Chapter) Fraternity founded at NU. When the chapter closed is not known. (Bairds).

1927 Eta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho founded at Â鶹´«Ã½, becoming the University's first NPHC sorority.
